Job Summary
The Equipment Procurement Manager will oversee the company's purchasing program. This includes the management of asset acquisition and disposition, short-term rentals, rental purchases, and leases. In addition, the Equipment Procurement Manager will be responsible for providing professional leadership and oversight for local and regional buyers and logistic members.
Essential Functions
- Collaborates with other departments and leadership to identify and develop needs and requirements forequipment, materials, products, and acceptable substitutions.
- Assesses current asset availability and reasonably predicts future availability based on the market, deliverysystems and other variables.
- Drafts, communicates, implements, and manages instructions, policies, and procedures for purchasing andcontract management.
- Evaluates and approves conditions for issuing and awarding bids.
- Resolves grievances with vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintains and/or implements systems to accurately, and effectively, manage the purchasing and record-keepingof equipment assets.
- Acts as the company's representative in negotiations with suppliers.
- Handles all coaching, discipline, and termination of employees in accordance with company policy and values.
- Coordinate removal or disposal of surplus materials.
- Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company's discretion.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Previous Heavy Equipment or Fleet Management experience
Training Requirements:
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Knowledge Requirements:
- Understanding of business and management principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven negotiation skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to effectively train others.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Understanding of contract language and experience reading the fine print.
Experience:
- At least three years of experience in construction or related field is required.
- Heavy equipment salesmen are encouraged to apply
Other Information:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
- May require travel.
- Must be able to successfully pass a drug test, MVR, and background check.
